Few craft distillers outside of Kentucky made the splash that Colby and Ashley Frey made when they launched their estate-grown bourbon from their 1,500-acre farm in Fallon, Nevada. The Quad Malt takes things a step further — utilizing the same four-grain mashbill as the standard bourbon (corn, winter rye, winter wheat, and barley) but with all four grains malted on site. Where most bourbons only malt the barley as a fermentation catalyst, the Quad Malt treats all four grains as flavor contributors, resulting in big fruity flavors up front that morph into candy corn and malted chocolate.
